Description
SRAM RED XPLR AXS Wide Disc HRD Flat Mount Gravel Groupset 1x13
The new SRAM Red XPLR groupset does more than just add another gear. Along with the upgrade to 13 speeds and a wider range, the full-mount rear derailleur has been made significantly more durable to handle even the toughest gravel rides. Chain management has also been improved, with the UDH standard and the removal of adjustment screws making installation and fine-tuning easier than ever. The Red AXS HRD shift-brake system features exceptional ergonomics, offering full control and ample braking power from any hand position. Additionally, the entire groupset’s weight has been reduced by more than 150 grams. As always, customization and firmware updates can be easily managed through the SRAM AXS app.
**Crank**
The previous model was already one of the lightest cranks available. Thanks to an optimized layered construction of the hollow carbon crank arms, the 2024 version is 29 grams lighter. The trusted SRAM X-Sync tooth profile, with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide), ensures a secure fit for the chain on the chainring. The crankshaft was designed for the new DUB Road bottom bracket standard, allowing compatibility with a wide range of crank applications. It fits all standard bottom bracket shells via the appropriate DUB bottom bracket. If desired, the SRAM AXS Powermeter Kit can be added to upgrade the crank with power measurement capabilities.**AXS HRD Shift-Brake System**
The AXS HRD shift-brake system has seen the most development among the new Red components. The hoods and carbon brake lever have been completely redesigned. In addition to better ergonomics for a variety of hand sizes, the brake levers now provide significantly improved power transmission from any handlebar position. A modified pivot point and repositioned primary piston in the shifter body allow braking with just one finger, whether from the drops or hoods. An extra shift button integrated into the hoods can control ANT+-compatible bike computers. The textured main shift paddles use the familiar eTap shift logic, with one paddle for upshifts, another for downshifts, and simultaneous presses to shift the front derailleur. Shifting behavior can be customized via the SRAM AXS app, and additional Wireless Blip Shifters can be integrated. Lever reach is easily adjustable via a hex key, and brake lever contact points can be fine-tuned independently to prevent handlebar contact.
The brake calipers, also newly redesigned, are not only stiffer but also lighter. A wider pad gap allows easier installation and friction-free operation. Bleeding Edge technology makes brake maintenance simple and clean. This slim design saves 83 grams compared to the previous Red HRD model.**AXS 13-Speed Rear Derailleur | 46T**
Gravel bike rear derailleurs endure far greater stress than those on road bikes due to impacts from rough terrain, stones, and sticks. SRAM has borrowed technologies from its proven mountain bike Transmission derailleurs in designing the new Red XPLR rear derailleur. With its full-mount design for UDH hanger frames, this rear derailleur is far more robust and impact-resistant than previous models. It can briefly disengage to avoid hard hits, and if damaged, various components can be replaced. Designed for use with the Red XPLR 10-46 tooth cassette, the derailleur is easy to install and requires no adjustment screws. Thanks to the mountain bike-inspired spring clutch, the chain stays securely in place even over rough terrain. The lower Magic Wheel derailleur pulley, also from the mountain bike line, keeps the chain moving even if a stick gets lodged in the roller.**13-Speed Cassette**
Gravel riding demands a wide gear range, from small gears for steep climbs to tight spacing for maintaining the perfect cadence on flats and during sprints. SRAM’s new Red XPLR cassette adds a 13th gear, increasing the largest sprocket to 46 teeth and broadening the overall range. Like the mountain bike Transmission cassettes, the largest sprocket is offset toward the spokes, making the XPLR 13-speed cassette compatible with standard SRAM XDR freehub bodies and 12-speed flattop chains. The optimized shifting performance across all sprockets ensures precise shifting on the toughest terrain. Weighing just 289 grams, the cassette is lighter than its 12-speed predecessor due to a revised X-Dome construction. The first 10 cogs are machined from a solid block of hardened steel, while the final cog, made of aluminum, acts as the spider for the 32- and 38-tooth aluminum sprockets, which are riveted on.**Chain**
SRAM has further lightened the proven Red Flattop chain for the new Red groupset. Hollow pins and cutouts in the inner and outer plates save 13 grams, while the durability and smoothness of the chain remain unchanged. The flattop design, combined with a chrome coating on the inside plates and rollers, ensures longevity and reliable performance.**160 mm Paceline X Brake Rotors**
The Paceline X brake rotor combines the smooth, quiet friction ring of the Paceline rotor with SRAM’s lightest aluminum spider. Optimized for road use, the ventilated design ensures smooth, low-vibration braking. Rounded rotor edges reduce the risk of injury and comply with UCI regulations. The rounded edges also make wheel installation easier by preventing the rotor from catching in the caliper.**Battery/Charger**
The rear derailleur's integrated battery has a range of over 1000 km, with the charge status visible through an LED indicator. The battery can be fully recharged within an hour using the included charger.**Technical Specifications**
